Morphosis / Birds & Trees

My work explores similarities, connections and shared patterns found between molecularstructures within our bodies, to the organic, animal and man-made forms that exist in the world around us.

For example, the structure of the human growth hormone, somatotropin evokes the pattern of beaded embroidery. The female sex hormone resembles the shape of a flower and the structure of the human egg cell is similar to many man-made objects.

I use these structures and the pattern of the double helix to make paintings that unfold and reveal a way of perceiving ourselves as an inseparable part of this universe.
