Unseen Energy

These works are concerned with unseen energy, movement, trails and traces that exist around, above, below and within us.

The images in the paintings are metaphors for cellular forms, molecular structures, interior bodily spaces, trails and fragments as maybe seen through the lens of an electron microscope.

The works are made using familiar everyday objects such as wire, hessian, mesh, twigs and leaves. These are used as stencils through which paint is sprayed in multiple layers. Other mark making processes include, gesture, pouring and dripping as a means through which to experience these energies.

I have confined my palette to various shades of silver, grey and black. This allows the paintings to reference photographic techniques of processing. The paintings therefore become momentary glimpses of these forces.
